Welcome to Voices: The Silberman Journal of Social Work.

Our Mission

The Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College is a renowned leader in social work education. Its talented student body, which is as socially diverse as New York City itself, exemplifies Silberman’s rigorous, practice-based, and anti-oppressive values. Voices, Silberman’s student-run, peer-reviewed academic journal, is a showcase of impassioned student discourse, and serves as a democratic platform for the varied and valuable perspectives of Silberman students. We hope that this year’s edition of Voices will be an important contribution to the field, and will encourage continued academic and professional excellence throughout our careers.

A Note from the Editors:

We wish to thank our peer review team, as well as the Silberman faculty for their ongoing guidance and support. We also wish to thank Writing Program Director Christopher Hartley and the Graduate Student Association.
